Tabby’s Clothesline, a community-driven free closet program available at Marietta City Schools, is in need of supplies.
Many families are completing their back-to-school shopping with new outfits and backpacks to kick off the year.
Marietta City Schools is also preparing to welcome Tigers back into its academic buildings in less than two weeks by staff training, classroom preparation and restocking supplies needed to remove barriers and facilitate learning
But, one of those resources relies upon community support to keep children in school during the day, said a press release from Marietta City Schools.
“We are in need of specific new and gently-used supplies in Tabby’s Clothesline,” said Attendance and Home Services Coordinator Brittnany Schaad. “From our youngest Tiger to our oldest Tiger, the closets allow families to stay at work and keep students in school without major interruption.”
Tabby’s Clothesline is a community-driven free closet program available at all three elementary buildings and at Marietta High School. School-appropriate clothing, hygiene products and school supplies are available on demand for students during the school day.
Specific needs by school building include:
Marietta High School at 115 Academy Dr.:
¯ School-appropriate boys and girls shirts (sizes XS – XXL).
¯ Gym shorts for boys and girls (sizes XS – XXL).
Marietta Elementary School at 242 N. Seventh St.:
¯ New shoes for boys and girls
¯ New sports bras (sizes small, medium and large).
Washington Elementary School at 401 Washington St.:
¯ Gym shorts for boys and girls (sizes 5, 6, 7 and 8)
¯ Girl’s leggings (sizes 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10)
Individual donations of one to five items will be accepted by building staff from 9-11 a.m. Aug. 15-18.
“We know how generous our community is, and are thankful for the continuing support we receive,” said Schaad. “And we value and appreciate the time of the building staff who help organize the items within our buildings.”
Tabby’s Clothesline also accepts monetary donations to support the ongoing mission of keeping kids in school, said the press release. Checks may be dropped off or mailed to the Marietta City Schools district office at 111 Academy Drive. Please make checks out to Marietta City Schools and note “Tabby’s Clothesline” in the memo section.
